Mom encouraged me to write letters to my grandmother when I first learned how to put sentences together in grade school.  I became quite fond of words and pursued a journalism degree at The Ohio State University after high school.  My early career included stints as an editor, writer, photographer and speechwriter at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Cincinnati.

My second job took me to Fortune 500 company American Electric Power where, in addition to performing communication duties, I became involved in a number of community programs and decided to pursue a law degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.  I eventually earned an MBA and began climbing the corporate ladder.  I worked at the organization’s Fuel Supply Department, Kentucky Power Company and finally in the corporate headquarters.  I gave a lot of oral and written presentations to upper management, especially when I headed up one of the sections of our procurement offices.  My final position at AEP was Director – Support Services for the energy delivery portion of the corporation.  Our group was tasked with managing internal contracts between departments and that involved very precise descriptive agreements.

Beginning in 2002, I operated J2 Consulting, LLC, for 10 years and used my educational and career experience to help other organizations.  I also served as a senior adjunct professor at Keller Graduate School of Management teaching Negotiation Skills and Leadership & Organizational Behavior.

In 2014, I moved to Ponte Vedra, and soon after decided to narrow my focus back to my love of words while still helping others.  Please let me know how I can help you reach your writing and speaking goals.
